Sardinian inspiration, beauty, food and wine
Magda and I recently took a trip to Alghero, on the North coast of the island of Sardinia. It’s a remote and peaceful place surrounded by beautiful scenery, seductive beaches, crystal clear waters, wonderfully historic architecture and exceptional food and wine.
For us though, it wouldn’t be the perfect break if the food wasn’t right, but here, on the island of Sardinia, it’s like culinary heaven. Simple, traditional Italian cooking from the heart, amazingly fresh seafood, vibrant produce and succulent meats both cured and fresh, all accompanied by an abundance of local wines.
We always like to bring something back for our customers, and we thought a taste of Sardinia would be perfect - Zuppa di Crostacei e Patate is a real Sardinian classic, oddles of flavour and perfect for a warming Autumn treat, we’ve been serving it for the past few weeks, and it’s been going down as well here at Casa Romana as it did in Alghero.
